Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering and zero to four years of experience with energy or utility/pipelines. Completion of Part I of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and/or knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or GIS software is preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical planning, design, and construction assistance on various natural gas projects that may include: distribution pipelines of various pressure systems, metering and pressure-reducing stations, transmission pipelines and interconnections, and/or individual service lines and metering assemblies
  • Assist with the preparation of construction drawings, specifications and other project related documents under direct supervision of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager
  • Complete engineering design calculations and evaluations
  • Document design changes and communications
  • Apply standard engineering practices, procedures, and criteria and ensure compliance with federal/state code, and company/client practices and standards
  • Assist with permit submittals to local municipalities, state and federal governing agencies
  • Prepare detailed material lists and validate quantities
  • Assist Project Mangers with review of scope, budget, and schedule
  • Assist Project Managers with preparation of proposals
  • Conduct on-site observations and field walks as needed
  • Maintain multiple project assignments and work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Prepare project status and other reports
  • Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including but not limited to, client process, plan review, pre-construction etc.
  • Attend seminars and/or training classes as required
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Maintain a safe working environment
