Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in civil and/or environmental engineering (master's degree is preferred), a minimum of ten years' experience and a PE license. Experience working with large-scale piping, valve and pumping systems and developing detailed plant and pump station design plans is required. Working knowledge of drinking water and wastewater facilities and liquid and solid processes is a must. Experience assisting with sales efforts and delivering presentations is also required. Excellent technical writing, organization and communication skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work well with others. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical planning, design and construction support on various water and wastewater projects that may include combined sewer overflow, collection system, pump station, stormwater, hydrologic and hydraulic models and/or other water and wastewater projects
  • Prepare engineering calculations and supporting analysis of alternatives
  • Prepare and evaluate wet weather control alternatives
  • Prepare design reports and construction plans for plant and pump station developments using local and state standards
  • Prepare/assist with specifications and permit submittals
  • Prepare preliminary project cost estimates and evaluate quantities
  • Review plans and specifications
  • Assist with/review scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks
  • Monitor task budget and progress
  • Document design changes and communications
  • Conduct on-site inspections as needed
  • Prepare project status and other reports
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals
  • Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc.
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Maintain a safe working environment
