Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering and zero to three years of experience. Completion of Part I of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation In Roads is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication/coordination skills are essential. Typical responsibilities include:
- Design various site development projects including commercial, institutional, and residential plans from concept through construction including the following:
- Site planning
- Site grading
- Site balancing
- Storm water design
- Horizontal and vertical design of underground utilities
- Obtain jurisdictional approvals/permits
- Prepare design reports and construction plans using local and state standards
- Prepare preliminary project cost estimates and evaluate quantities
- Assist with/review scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks
- Monitor task budget and progress
- Conduct on-site observations as needed
- Maintain multiple project assignments
- Verify field survey notes
- Prepare project status and other reports
- Assist Project Managers
- Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc.
- Attend seminars and/or training classes
- Maintain excellent client relations
- Maintain a safe working environment
