Candidates must have a high school diploma and a minimum of seven years related experience. An associate's degree in CAD is preferred, but not required. Extensive knowledge of engineering design, ability to read and prepare drawings, and experience with creating process piping and utility piping infrastructure plans in 3D CAD environment is required. Candidates with knowledge of personal computer hardware and software configurations, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Plant, MicroStation and GIS are desired. Excellent organizational and follow up skills are also required. Individuals must be self-motivated and able to work well with others. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule available after 90 days of employment. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for interpreting, analyzing, organizing, executing, and coordinating new design projects and/or revisions to existing projects of varying scales and complexity in a CAD platform
  • Independently develop work packages and meet deadlines
  • Develop quality plans meeting client expectations
  • Apply engineering principles and procedures to develop CAD based engineering designs
  • Although primarily focused on creation of process piping plans, the incumbent is responsible to develop base maps, import topo and background imagery and create linked file sets
  • Perform design calculations as needed
  • Create 3D (plus 2D plan/profile/sections) drawings and plans from layouts created by the Project Manager /Engineer
  • Provide design details as needed
  • Seek resolutions on non-standard analytical problems and CAD presentation requirements
  • Create estimated time requirements for projects
  • Attend project-specific meetings to understand CAD budgets, schedules
  • Save project-specific data on a daily and weekly basis
  • Understand and incorporate into a CAD drawing, field survey notes, construction red lines and design mark-ups
  • Assist Project Managers/Engineers as needed in plan development and layout
  • Attend meetings as needed
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Maintain a safe working environment
